With four distinct seasons, this unique region provides the visitor with a glorious display of Fall color. Better still, the Autumn days are often mild. Those who plan on traveling to or staying in this area in late September through early December are advised to bring clothing suitable for everything from warm, dry weather to heavy rainfall, morning frosts and (typically light) snowfalls. Nights are usually quite cool in this area year-round...even in the height of Summer

There's plenty to do and lots to explore out on the campground and out to the front and along Caves Highway! Our impeccably-maintained trails make it a pleasure to stroll, take an easy hike or ride your bicycle to get around or just get away from it all. This photo was taken in the early Spring, which explains the incredibly lush greens that dominate this image. The Spring is a time of exquisite beauty when wildflowers abound.

Speaking of wildflowers, here is a close up of one of the first to appear: the Shooting Star. These are a sort of "inside-out flower", growing in clumps, covering meadows and hillsides and nature's way of saying "It's not Winter anymore." Because Winters here are comparatively mild and quite short, it is not at all unusual to see these Shooting Stars begin their brilliant show in mid-February. You'll see lots of Robins and Hummingbirds will return around this time of year, as well. In fact, for many people, this is their favorite time of year in the Siskiyou valleys. Highly recommended!

And no four seasons would be complete without Winter! Here is a photo taken standing out in front of the motel facing toward Caves Highway. You will notice the snow wasn't heavy (it was gone the next day at this altitude but remained visible high in the hills and mountains). You will also notice that you can't see Caves Highway! That's because Country Hills Resort is set comfortably back from Highway 46, so you typically don't see the road or hear traffic noises.
